Xi Jiang Yue
*I try to imitate Christopher Logue and his famous War Music. Xi Jiang Yue is another title for a set of lyrics used in Ci poems.
This world: a mess of ink-blot hills.
An autumn wind sighs over smoke.
Shattered spears ask the years, "What was it for?"
How many battlefields did we use for a bed?
I still recall the glory, the shame,
The bow drawn tight, the war-horns screaming.
The fighters' bloody tears, corpses slumped on horses,
Are now just a scroll of map of the Yan Yun frontier.
Original Poem (composed in ancient Chinese or Wenyan):
西江月
乱点河山浮世,秋风悲叹云烟。金戈断骨问当年,几度沙场卧遍。
犹忆功名荣辱,满弓画角连天。征夫血泪尸横鞍,化作燕云一卷。
